Kangaroo Island Health Service is an accredited Multi Purpose Service (MPS) offering health related services to the whole of Kangaroo Island.

The Health Service provides inpatient services for 16 beds in medicine, surgery, obstetrics (Obstetrics Clinic Thursday 1 - 4pm, Bulk Billed) & gynaecology, orthopaedics, gastroenterology and urology, palliative care, paediatrics, opthalmology, visiting cardiologist and psychiatrist. Outpatient and 24 hour Emergency services are also available.

The Health Service also provides specialist residential Aged Care Services in Anchusa (a secured facility with 14 high care beds) and Carnarvon (18 low care beds). A wide range of community based primary health care services are also available within the Health Service.

These services are provided in individuals homes and in Community Health Centres based in Kingscote, American River, Parndana and Penneshaw. The types of services available include: youth services, home & community care, community nursing, health promotion & education, diabetes services, women's health services, domestic violence support services, mental health services, social work services, aged care services, ACAT assessments, disability services, palliative care, as well as a number of visiting specialist consultancy services

Service to the community is the prime concern and the philosophy of this Health Service. We aim to provide high quality holistic care to the individual whilst at the same time recognising a responsibility to be involved in the total health care of the community. It is our aim to ensure that each individual in the community has access to the best physical, emotional and social health care.
