Welcome to the Anchusa and Carnarvon Aged Care Facility.

Kangaroo Island Health Service provides high-level care at Anchusa and low-level care at Carnarvon.

The philosophy of this Aged Care Facility is to provide high quality care to the individual whilst at the same time, recognising a responsibility to be involved in the total health care of the community and recognise that the aged and disabled have the same basic need as other citizens, including the need for:
  • Provision of a safe homelike environment.
  • Provision of clean comfortable accommodation and other material needs consistent with those of an average citizen.
  • The development and maintenance of an optimum level of health and well being.
  • To encourage and support family relationships, companionship and opportunities to relate to others in a meaningful, supportive and genuine way.
  • The opportunity to live a life with dignity purpose and meaning.
  • To encourage and support independence within the individual person’s capacity and choice.
  • Respect the individual person’s right to make decisions in relation to their activities of daily living, health services and social activities.
  • Promote personal growth through purposeful activities, stimulation of motivation and purpose for living.
  • Free expression of political and religious beliefs.
  • Support cultural beliefs, consistent with their background.
  • Maintain confidentiality.
